Paul Dobson Wood County Prosecuting Attorney Paul A. Dobson graduated cum laude from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Education Degree in Secondary Education.  He received his law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1994.  Thereafter, he worked as a Bowling Green City Prosecutor until joining the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office in 1996.  For a short time, he engaged in private practice in Toledo, Ohio.  He returned to the Prosecutor’s Office in 2002 to resume what he as said is the most rewarding job of his career. 

 During his tenure in the Criminal Division, Mr. Dobson has successfully prosecuted a wide range of crimes.  He prosecuted multiple cases of embezzlement from local non-profit groups and charities.  He prosecuted internet crime cases, including fraud and child pornography, convincing the courts to impose prison time for these deviant offenders.  He has additionally prosecuted offenses such as Burglary, Robbery and Domestic Violence, as well as several Murder cases, including cold cases as far back as 1976.

In 2005, he was appointed by then-prosecutor Raymond C. Fischer as one of two Chief Assistants over the Criminal Division.  In 2008, Mr. Dobson was elected as Wood County Prosecuting Attorney.  He continues his work to improve communication and accountability within the office.  Mr. Dobson’s guiding principles are truth and fairness in representing the public interest, rigorous prosecution of criminal offenders, and care and empathy for crime victims.

Criminal Division

Gwen Howe-Gebers, Chief Assistant graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in Communication and received her law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law.  Ms. Howe-Gebers served as a law clerk in the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office before officially joining the office in 1988 in the Juvenile Division.  She then transferred to the Criminal Division where she received special recognition from the DEA in 2004 and also received recognition from the OPAA that same year.  In 2005, Ms. Howe-Gebers was appointed by then-prosecutor Raymond C. Fischer as one of two Chief Assistants over the Criminal Division.  In 2009, she was appointed by Paul Dobson as sole Chief Assistant to run that division.  In addition to supervising the division, Ms. Howe-Gebers prosecutes the majority of drug-related felony cases.

Aram M. Ohanian, Assistant graduated from James Madison College at Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science Law-Democracy and received his law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law.  Mr. Ohanian worked for the Stark County Public Defender, the Wood County Public Defender, and the Fostoria Prosecutor’s Office while maintaining a private practice.  He joined the Criminal Division in Wood County Prosecutor’s Office in 2003.  Mr. Ohanian covers the initial stages of prosecution of most cases on behalf of the office.

Heather M. Baker, Assistant graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Bowling Green State University and earned her law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law.  Ms. Baker began in the Juvenile Division as a legal intern through the Prosecutor’s Clinic before joining the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office in 2004 in the Juvenile Division.  She then transferred to the Criminal Division in 2005.  Ms. Baker either prosecutes or assists in the majority of sexual assault cases.

Melissa A. Freeman, Assistant graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Ohio University.  Ms. Freeman then earned her law degree from Ohio Northern University where she served as Lead Articles Editor for the Law Review and was a Team Member for the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court.  She worked as Staff Attorney for Judge Reeve Kelsey before joining the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office in 2008 in the Criminal Division.  Ms. Freeman handles many of the theft, fraud and embezzlement cases.

Aaron T. Lindsey, Assistant began his career in law enforcement as a deputy sheriff in upstate New York.  He received his law degree from the University at Buffalo Law School in 2003.  He then served as a United States Air Force Judge Advocate General on both the criminal prosecution and defense sides from 2003 to 2009.  He has been admitted to the New York Bar as well as Ohio’s.  Aaron joined the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office in 2009.  Since coming to the office, he has focused his attention on violent crimes and Domestic Violence cases.

Jacqueline M. Kirian, Assistant graduated from the University of Dayton with a Bachelor of Arts in English with minors in History and Economics.  Ms. Kirian received her law degree from The Ohio State University College of Law while working as a law clerk and served as Staff Attorney for Judge William H. Wolff, Jr., of the Second District Court of Appeals after graduation.  She joined the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office in 1999 and currently serves as Appellate Counsel.

David E. Romaker Jr., Assistant graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and received his law degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School.  He joined the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office as a legal intern in 2006.  He was subsequently hired as an Assistant Prosecutor in 2009.  Mr. Romaker splits his workload by serving as Appellate Counsel, Real Estate Title Certification Attorney and Criminal Prosecutor.

Michelle Mossbarger, Paralegal graduated cum laude from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Science in Paralegal Studies.  Ms. Mossbarger joined the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office in 2008 after serving in a law firm for four years.  Ms. Mossbarger coordinates much of the pre-trial support work for the prosecutors.  Further, she supervises the office’s internship program. She is a certified mediator and received 4th place at the National Intercollegiate Mediation Tournament in 2008.

John W. Helm, Investigator graduated from The College of Wooster with a Bachelor of Arts.  Mr. Helm served as a police officer before joining the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office in 1977.  Mr. Helm’s primary duty is to assist other law enforcement agencies in the investigation of major crime, acting as a liaison between the agency and the prosecutor’s office.  In 1985 he received the OPAA award for Outstanding Staff Person in a Prosecutor’s Office.  Mr. Helm is a member of the Wood County Domestic Violence Review Committee, the Wood County Child Death Review Committee, and CART (Child Abduction Response Team) Organizing Committee.

Civil Division

Molly L. Mack, Chief Assistant graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History from The College of Wooster.  Ms. Mack also graduated cum laude with her law degree from Thomas Cooley Law School where she served as Managing Editor of the Cooley Law Review and was an Associate Member of the Legal Author’s Society.  She has served as a law clerk to the Honorable John W. Potter, U.S. Federal District Court, Northern District, Western Division; was an associate in the Litigation Department at Spengler Nathanson; and worked as an associate at Arnold & Caruso, Ltd.  Ms. Mack joined the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office in 2004 as an associate in the Civil Division and, in 2009, was promoted to Chief of the Civil Division.

Linda F. Holmes, Assistant graduated from the College of William and Mary with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Education and received her law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law.  Ms. Holmes worked as a teacher of high school history and government for nine years before joining the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office in 1983 as an Assistant Juvenile Prosecutor.  Shortly thereafter, she transferred to the Civil Division where she earned an Outstanding Service Award from Prosecutor Alan Mayberry in 2002.

Carri L. Leathers, Assistant graduated with a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management from the University of Findlay.  Ms. Leathers then worked as Projects Director for Putnam County, Ohio for eight years.  During that time, she obtained her law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law.  Thereafter, she served as Contracts Manager for Hamilton County before joining the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office in 2008 in the Civil Division.

Juvenile Division

Timothy C. Atkins, Chief Assistant graduated from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Arts before earning his law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law.  Mr. Atkins joined the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office in 1995 as an Assistant Prosecutor in the Child Support Division before being assigned to the Juvenile Division.  In 2003, when the Juvenile Division was separated from the Criminal Division, he was appointed the Juvenile Division’s Chief.  He has remained in that position as the Division he grown from two to three attorneys.  In 2009, his position was elevated to equal status with the chiefs of the civil and criminal divisions.

Walter M. Meneses, Assistant graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology/Management from Marietta College and received his law degree from New York Law School.  Mr. Meneses served in the Navy Judge Advocate Corps for 8 years in Virginia and Alaska before joining the Wood County Public Defender’s Office.  He came to the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office in 2003 where he worked in the Criminal Division for several years before transferring to the Juvenile Division.

Charles S. Bergman, Assistant graduated from Calvin College with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and received his law degree from the University of Detroit.  Mr. Bergman has served as Assistant Corporate Counsel for the City of Detroit, and subsequently Assistant Prosecutor in Fulton County as the Juvenile Prosecutor Mr. Bergman joined the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office in 2008.  Mr. Bergman’s duties relate to the prosecution of abuse and neglect of children through a cooperative effort with Wood County Job and Family Services. Mr. Bergman has been highly instrumental in re-establishing a cooperative law enforcement/victim and children’s services association called TEAM.

Victim/Witness Services

Monica A. DeLeon, Director graduated from University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and worked as a probation officer at the Wood County Juvenile Court.  Ms. DeLeon joined the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office in 1999 as the Director for the Victim and Witness Services Division.  She is a member of SARC (Sexual Assault Response Collaborative) and the Wood County Domestic Violence Fatality Review Board.

Robert J. McGeein graduated with a Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and also completed the Advanced Management Program from Bowling Green State University.  Mr. McGeein worked for Bowling Green State University for 25 years before retiring as Assistant Vice President.  He joined the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office in 1998 as the Assistant Director for the Victim and Witness Services Division.  He is a member of the Department of Developmental Disabilities’ Statewide Abuse Registry Committee.

C.Y.C.L.E. Program

Christy M. Snyder, Director graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Community Services.  Ms. Snyder is a certified mediator and has served as an intern for Wood County Department of Job and Family Services and as a Team Leader for the Wood County Educational Service Center’s Community Learning Center.  She joined the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office in 2005 as Assistant Director of the Youth Services and Programs Division.  In 2009, she was promoted to the position of Director, when the division was changed to the C.Y.C.L.E. Program.  She is also a member of the Bowling Green State University’s Human Development and Family Studies Advisory Committee.

Brandy N. Hartman graduated with Honors and Distinction from Tiffin University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.  She worked at Wood Lane Residential Services, Inc. as a Case Manager and later an Assistant Supervisor.  In 2009, she was hired by the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office as Assistant Director of the C.Y.C.L.E. Program.
